He was predeceased by : his parents, John Charles McAbee and Elizabeth Leona McAbee (McGough); his son Tommy Allen McAbee; and his siblings, Paul "Budgie" McAbee, Darlynn Ellen Croce, Karen L. Tate and Laurene Ragan.

He is survived by : his wife Mary Almyra McAbee (Anderson); his children, Donald P. McAbee (Dena) and Darlynn S. Clark (Jim); his grandchildren, Heather Coy (Joe), Amber Dowdle (Dan) and Justin McAbee; and his great grandchildren, Shane Lucey, William Coy, Hunter McAbee and Hoyt McAbee. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Monday, May 27th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Tuesday, May 28th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the James Funeral Home (1245 Main St, Follansbee, WV 26037). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, May 28th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
