Bates, III; his grandchildren, Mason (Alyssa) of Saint Augustine, Peyton Taylor Bates of Washington, DC and Camden Joseph Bates of Washington, DC; his pets, Banjo, Jack and Cash; his sister Carole Zaninelli of Follansbee, WV; his nieces, Melanie and Melissa Zaninelli; his great-nephew Brax Ware; and his great-niece Mila Ware.
