With heavy hearts, we announce the death of James Wayne Ashby Jr. of Foster, West Virginia, who passed away on February 23, 2026 at the age of 74. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Jim Ashby and Sue Ann Ashby. He is survived by: his wife Debbie Ferrell Ashby of Foster; his children, Jay of Foster and Kim; his son-in-law Chad Gillispie of Julian; his grandsons, Brandon Lowery (Courtney) of Hopewell, VA, Zach (Cass) of Julian and Kade (Alexandria) of Hopewell, VA.; his great grandchildren, Tatum Brooke, Sawyer Wayne Gillispie of Julian, WV and Theodore James Ashby of Hopewell, VA.; his aunt Mary Lou Pauley of Foster; and his siblings, Kathy of Foster, Don (Hella) of Foster and Walt of Anthony, WV.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Rosenbaum Family House, 30 Family House Drive, Morgantown WV 26505 so that other families can find the love and support one needs when away from home.
