He was predeceased by: his parents, William VanGilder and Ella Dell Smith VanGilder; his wife Denise Lee VanGilder (Leasure); his brothers, Harold, Donald, Gene and Willis VanGilder; his brother-in-law James "Jimmy" Hilderbrand; and his close friend Mike Haddix.
He is survived by: his children, Brittany Exline (Danny) of Buckhannon, Shaun Peggs (Brian Novak) of Morgantown, WV and William VanGilder; his grandchildren, Garett Exline of Buckhannon and Lindsey Exline of Buckhannon; his siblings, Roger VanGilder (Patricia) of Gadsden, AL, Margel VanGilder (Rosalee) of Spencer, OH and Avanell Marie Sturgil of Salem, OH; his sister-in-law Tasha Hilderbrand of Mingo Junction, OH; and his cousin Bernard VanGilder (Tammy) of French Creek. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.
