With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Esther Smarr Smith of Gassaway, West Virginia, who passed away on January 23, 2023 at the age of 99. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by : her parents, Ezra Smarr and Lidia Dobbins Smarr; her daughter Barbara Chaney; and her siblings, Chester Smarr and Letha Smith.

She is survived by : her granddaughter Erica Chaney Koenig of Oregon; her great grandchildren, Wolfgang Sebastian Koenig and Leopold Xavier Koenig; her son-in-law Dan Chaney of New Mexico; and her sister Virgie Best of Gassaway.
