It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Loretta Rose Smithson of Glenville, West Virginia, who passed away on November 15, 2025, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Ildon McMillion and Bertha McMillion; her husband Carl William "Doc" Smithson; her daughter Elginia G. Logan (Martin); her son-in-law Martin; her siblings, Ildon McMillion Jr., Dale McMillion, Carl McMillion, Albert McMillion, Mary Griffith (McMillion) and Jean Cozart (McMillion); and her granddaughter Carla Renee Smithson.
She is survived by: her children, Carl W. "Sonny" Smithson Jr. (Darlene Gay) of Glenville, Melinda R. Fitzpatrick (Dennis) of Glenville and Anita C. Roberts (Owen "Buzz") of Coxs Mills, WV.; her grandchildren, Amanda Poole (Jason), Lea Ann Phares (Julian), Tabatha Beall (David), Martin Logan Jr., Matthew Roberts and Hannah Burton (Dalton); her great grandchildren, Adam Beall (Miriam), Luke Beall (Jordanne), Dalton Logan, Kyle Logan, Sarah Logan, Logan Phares, Rachel Phares, Ryan Phares, Owen Phares, Isaac Poole (Autumn), Jacob Poole, Leah Poole and Blake Burton; her great great grandchildren, Addie Beall, Kane Beall and Ellie Poole; and her close friends, Ellen Minney and Angie McCumbers. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life was held on Sunday, November 30th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Sand Fork Church of God.
