He was predeceased by: his parents, Floyd Leon and Irene Marie Getz (White); his siblings, Harold Getz, Steve Getz and Nadine Idleman; and his grandsons, Cody and Logan.

He is survived by: his wife Nancy Belle Getz (Rodeheaver); his sons, Peter Gerald "Bucky" Getz, Jr. (Annie), Harold Leon "Rusty" Getz (Penny), Timothy Jay Getz (Kristen) and John Michael Getz (Tiffany); and his brother Russell Getz (Elizabeth). He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 9th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Thursday, September 10th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. A funeral service was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Mt. Storm United Methodist Church (16577 George Washington Hwy, Mt Storm, WV 26739).
