She was predeceased by : her parents, Robert McKinnley and Aretha Pearl Cox Slaton; her husband James Clarence Smith; and her siblings, Francis Findley, Katherine Anglish, Paul Slaton, Helen McDaniel, Harry Slaton, Bobby Slaton, Donny Slaton, Shirley Perkins and Kenneth Slaton.

She is survived by : her children, Pamela Sue "Susie" Ware Grafton (Tom), Jay Michael Smith of Charlotte, NC and Mirchana Everhart Morgantown (Ronnie); her grandchildren, Ryan Thomas Ware (Kelley), James Howard Ware, Ronald James Everhart and Gianna Jade Everhart of Red Bank, NJ; her great grandchildren, Matthew Ware, Emma Ware and Adalynn Ware; her sister Patricia; and her sisters-in-law, Mary Slaton and Grafton. She is also survived by one brother.
