He was predeceased by: his parents, David Allan and Lois Crowder Kemper; and his sister Tammy Kemper. He is survived by: his wife Bonny Sue Wolfe Kemper; his children, John Jay Kemper (Wanda) and Sherry Ann Kemper; his grandchildren, Sierra Weaver (Joseph), Chase Moats (Shawna), Colton Moats (Bailey) and Arianna Kay Wolfe (Gary); his great grandchildren, Kinsley, Wyatt, Carson and Wesley; his siblings, Bobby Kemper, Roger Kemper, Ricky Kemper and Debra Lake; and his nephew Richie McGinnis (Amanda). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
