He was predeceased by : his parents, Outher Elmer and Garnett Bays; his wife Christina Bays; and his children, Linda Bailey, Connie Chaney (Roger Garland), Mike Landers and Bob Bays (Bethany).

Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 17th 2024 at 10:59 AM and at 11:00 AM at the Allen Funeral Home (2837 Main St, Hurricane, WV 25526). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, April 17th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the same location. The military honors was held on Wednesday, April 17th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Lawson Cemetery.
