With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Mary Eileen Smoot (Harpers Ferry, West Virginia), born in Seattle, Washington, who passed away on October 18, 2025 at the age of 81. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Mary Eileen Smoot to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her daughter Kimberly Eileen; her parents, Minnie C Heibeck and Kenneth G O'Toole; and her sister Florence Ann Van Leuven. She is survived by: her husband James M. Smoot; and her children, John K Cahalin (Helen Jo) of Chicago, IL, Kevin P Cahalin of Chicago, IL, Jaime E Kirby (John Douglas) of Charles Town, WV, Rosa D Brown of Charles Town, WV and Sylvia V Boggs of Martinsburg, WV. She is also survived by many beautiful grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 26th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home (256 Halltown Rd, Harpers Ferry, WV 25425). A rosary will be held on Sunday, October 26th 2025 at 7:30 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, October 27th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. James the Greater Catholic Church (49 Crosswinds Dr, Charles Town, WV 25414).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. James Catholic Church or TB Aftercare Charles Town (tbaftercare.org).
