He was predeceased by: his parents, Elwood Ray and Effie Adkins Kesner; his son Steven M. Kesner; his brother Darnell Kesner; his mother-in-law Naomi Gill; and his siblings-in-law, Boyd Gill, Teddy Wills, Helen Gill, Brenda Gill and Midge Trout.

He is survived by: his wife Kathy Gill Kesner; his son Michael E. Kesner (Donna); his grandchildren, Savanna Kay Kesner, Hunter Kesner, Riley, Chase and Kolbie; his great grandchildren, Sofia, Oaklynn and Mavrick; his siblings, Selane Gill, Delwood Kesner (Nancy), Annette Thompson, Benwood Kesner, Veronica, Elwood "Woody" Kesner Jr. (Leisa), Ray Kesner, Christine Adkins (Tommy), William Kesner (Crystal), Delphine Stinson, Caroline "Sissy" Fox (Jeff) and Marie Fox; and his nieces and nephews, Connie Lilly, Zach Gill, Samantha Bender and Donnie Zimmerman Jr..
