He was predeceased by : his parents, William Thomas and Ellene Bragg Thomas; and his siblings, Sammy, Bobby Jack, Jitterbug, Jim, Roger, Helen, Betty Thomas, Mary Landis, Shirley Bowling and Catherine Adkins.

He is survived by : his wife Sarah Persinger Thomas; his sons, Chris Thomas of Hilldale and Eric Thomas (Mellissa) of Hinton; his grandchildren, Robbie, Austin, Jammie and Jessica; and his niece Elizabeth Phillips. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
