He was predeceased by: his parents, Jerry H. Burns and Bernice L. Shaver Burns; his stepmother Rachel B. Burns; his siblings, Eddie D. Burns, Timothy J. Burns and Drema D. Burns; and his parents-in-law, Richard "R. O." and Doris Harper.
He is survived by: his wife Linda Harper Burns; his grandchildren, Tate Dever (Rylea Freeman), Wyatt Burns, Hope Dever, Sara Burns and Cy Dever; and his siblings, Carol Burns Wolfe and Troy Burns. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews as well as many friends.
