He was predeceased by: his parents, Jasper Hayes and Abby Hayes; his wife Dotty; his daughters, Teresa Hayes, Ruth Hayes and Sherri McClanahan; and his siblings, Maxine Putnam, Marie Gillispie, Ruth Bays, Mary Lou Wallace, Junie, Ernie and Garland "Peanut" Hayes.
He is survived by: his grandchildren, Andrea, Tyler Johnson, Autumn, Tony Alvarez, Nathan Burnette, Noah, Shaela Burnette, Drew, Cassie Burnette, Tyler Hayes, Jr., McClanahan, Megan, Anthony Mynes, Aalaya Bailey-Williamson, Heather Nester and Tyler Call. He is also survived by 25 great-grandchildren, along with many other extended family.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 13th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Chapman Funeral Home (3941 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane, WV 25526). A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 13th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
