He is survived by: his wife Velda Blankenship of Jolo; his children, Lynn Lester, Fionse Gary Payne of Whitewood, VA, Doris Coleman (Gary) of Paynesville and Johnny Gibson (Sharon White) of Whitewood, VA; his stepchildren, Debbie Day (Jason), Russell Blankenship (Teresa) of Harmon, VA and Patsy Cordle (Wayne) of Richlands, VA; and his siblings, Steve Gibson, Ruby Atkinson and Jean Hafield. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren; several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday, September 15th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Rock Spring Baptist Church (10109 Marshall Hwy, Bradshaw, WV 24817).
