With heavy hearts, we announce the death of David Ellis Hammond of Kearneysville, West Virginia, who passed away on November 23, 2025 at the age of 70. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As David departs from our midst, his spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved David. Though David may no longer walk beside us, his legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
He was predeceased by: his father Charles Forrest Hammond Jr.; and his nephew Benjamin Riley Cooper. He is survived by: his mother Mildred Alice Butler Hammond; his wife Angela Joy Shields; his daughter Meghan Renee Jenkins (Jonathan); his grandchildren, Nathan Ellis Jenkins and Josephine "Josie" Allona Jenkins; and his sisters, Judy Sutton Hammond, Robbie Jo Hammond and Diana Lynn Hammond (Bryan Roesch).
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in David's memory to the American Cancer Society, St. Jude's Children's Hospital or Hospice of the Panhandle, 330 Hospice Lane, Kearneysville, WV 25430.
