He was predeceased by: his parents, Delbert Sr. Shy and Sadie Gilkerson Shy; and his siblings, Joe, Willard, Toby Shy, Dean Finley and Mona Cole.
He is survived by: his friend David "Bones" McComas; his daughters, Melanie Kearns (Jason), Marissa Coleman (Bill) and Megan Payne (Scott); his grandchildren, Nicholas Hagy (Haley), Lauren Shilot, Natalee Hagy, Sarah Kearns, Jacob Arrington, Savannah Payne and Delaney Payne; and his siblings, Vernon Dale Shy, Olive "Ott" Smith and Pansy Whaley. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or a local veterans' home, honoring Deb's generosity and service to others.
