It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Billy Ray Nelson of Keyser, West Virginia, who passed away on June 6, 2025, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Crawford and Louise Nelson Crawford (Snell); his wife Lelia M. Nelson (Decker); his half-brothers, Paul Crawford and Clarence Crawford, Jr.; and his son-in-law Thurman W. Whisner.
He is survived by: his stepfather Clarence Crawford, Sr.; his children, Karen Elaine Whisner of Great Cacapon, WV, Randall Lee Nelson (Sheila) of Lusby, MD, Terri Lynne Nelson (Michelle Campbell) of Richmond, VA and Mark Owen Nelson (Apryl) of Rawlings, MD; his grandchildren, David Whisner, Michelle Bishop, Jeff T. Radcliffe-Nelson (Stephanie Garon), Lisa Andrews (Chad), Stephanie Nelson, Tyler, Samantha Palacios (Mario), Brianna Nelson, Kristen Robinette and Dylan Robinette; his sisters, Anna Lee Nield (Howard Bennett) of Keyser and Glenda Staggs (Robert) of Keyser; and his close friends, June Preston and David Haines. He is also survived by 10 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 29th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Smith Funeral Home & Crematory (85 S Main St, Keyser, WV 26726). A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 29th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location.
