He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilburn Johnston Sr. and Betty McQueen Johnston; his children, Johnny "John John" Johnston Jr. and Violet "May May" Johnston Lovejoy; and his siblings, Ralph Johnston, Virginia "Sue" Johnston and Tammy Foster.
He is survived by: his wife Wanda Stonestreet Johnston; his grandchildren, Carl, Adena and Leeanna; his siblings, Wilburn "Jug" Johnston Jr., Annamae Johnston (Risty) and Reba Settle (Rex); his niece Kristy Williams (Jordan); and his nephew Darrell Reese.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, May 21st 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Tyree Funeral Home- Oak Hill (999 Jones Ave, Oak Hill, WV 25901).
