He was predeceased by: his wife Vonnie Regina Nelson; his son Ricky "Bull" Nelson; and his parents, Greene Nelson and Bessie Nelson. He is survived by: his children, Ernest Lee Nelson Jr. (Jackie) of Julian, WV, Terry Nelson (Debbie) of Logan, WV, Deanne Frye of Huntington, WV and Debbie Nelson of Lake, WV; and his grandchildren, Willis Hayes (Tiffaney), Gary Hayes (Ashley), Daniel Nelson (Lindsay), Courtney Browning (Josh), Ricky Nelson, Joanie Sturgill, Brian Dotson, Brittany Patton and DJ Cochran. He is also survived by 21 great-grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews.
