He was predeceased by: his father Marvin Galen Guthrie; and his brother Quintin Guthrie. He is survived by: his mother Sylvia May Guthrie (Smith); his wife Vicki Guthrie (Sukow); his children, Trey Kight (Sequoia Davis) of Oakland, Taya Guthrie (Dvon Joseph) of Oakland and Marvin Tyler Guthrie of Oakland; his grandchildren, Cherish Kight, Orion Kight and Savannah Joseph; his friends, Raschell and Albert Zipp; his sister-in-law Teresa Guthrie; and his siblings, Norman Guthrie (Glenna), Sonya Boerner (Preston), Westernport and Christie Reckart (Jason). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as many great friends.
