He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Mays and Ethel Mays; and his sister Lillian Callicoat. He is survived by: his wife Nancy Mays; his children, James Mays II (Kimberly) of Lavalette, Thomas W. Damron of Lavalette and Venisha Lynn Butcher (David) of South Point; and his grandchildren, Jessica Jackson (Will) of South Point, Jeremy Butcher (Chassee) of South Point, Tyler Butcher of South Point, Brittney Mays of Phoenix, Ariz, James Matthew Mays of Lavalette and Hannah Mays of Huntington. He is also survived by eight great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 9th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Johnson Tiller Funeral Home (10030 WV-152, Wayne, WV 25570). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 9th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
