He was predeceased by : his parents, S. Austin Acord and Elsie Massey Acord of Lester. He is survived by : his wife Carolyn Showalter Acord; his sister Rita Wix of Fairdale; his daughter Cathy (Rob Meier); his grandchildren, Carly Quickle (Cody Feazelle), Cade Quickle of St. Albans, WV, Holt Criddle of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Hunter Criddle of Beaver, WV and Christian Cates of St. Albans, WV.; and his great grandchildren, Noah and Chloe Quickle of Tornado. He is also survived by his family and friends.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Shriner's Children's Hospital or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
