He was predeceased by: his parents, David VanMatre and Leah VanMatre (Grinstead); his wife Cecile Claire VanMatre (Huddleston); his siblings, Eddie VanMatre, Donald VanMatre and Mona Lee Werner; and his granddaughter Tabitha VanMatre.
He is survived by: his children, Barry David VanMatre (Faye) of Gibbstown, WV and Lisa Kay Wood of Gibbstown, WV; his grandchildren, Jeremy Tucker, Colton Gilman (Carey), Trista Ferguson (John) and Mariah Whiteside (Matt); and his great grandchildren, Griffin Toler, Burkley Ferguson, Brayle Ferguson, Grayson Tucker and Paislee Tucker.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 16th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Foglesong Funeral Home (2275 S 2nd St, Mason, WV 25260). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 17th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Wednesday, December 17th 2025 at the Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
