With heavy hearts, we announce the death of John Olson of Mannington, West Virginia, who passed away on May 6, 2026 at the age of 80. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, John Olson and Christina VanDerBeck; his significant other Ruth Gonzales-Olson; and his siblings, Alex Olson, Alice Passantino, Suzanne Olson and Diane Tillander.
He is survived by: his children, Summer Massey (Kevin) of Texas, TerraLee Vera of Pennsylvania, Corrina Wenck of Nebraska, Robert Olson of Pennsylvania, Nicole VanName-Olson of Kansas, George Tyler (Julie) of Henderson Nevada and Sherry Smith (Peter) of Canton, MA.; his siblings, Linda Juszczak (Charles), Emily Weil, Victor Gaspar and Gary Gaspar; his grandchildren, Michael Vera, Robert Vera, Jessica Vera, Vincent Vera, Michael Wenck, Destiny Wenck Princeton Tyler, Trenton Tyler, Clayton Tyler, Christian Tyler, Sierra Tyler, Julia Quinn, Aidan Quinn, Ronan Smith and Killian Smith; and his great grandchildren, Taylor Enriquez and Lillian Enriquez. He is also survived by thirteen nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 18th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Harmer Funeral Home (300 Pike St, Shinnston, WV 26431). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 26th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
