He was predeceased by : his parents, Vernon Diller and Faith Woodell; and his sister Nancy Diller Burks. He is survived by : his stepfather Eugene Dilley; his children, Caleb Diller (Ashli) of Marlinton and Susanna Diller-Yoke (Blair) of Louisville, KY; his grandchildren, Brayden and Koda (Catherine Rowe); and his close friend Pug.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Allegheny Echoes Student Scholarship Fund in memory of Dwight.

“An icon of true Appalachian old-time music, I had the good fortune to have had a few conversations with him at Clifftop, and when he and Dave Bing performed for the Smithsonian, in Washington, DC. Can’t imagine the countless thousands of people around the world who loved his music, and were inspired to learn to play the banjo because of his banjo camps and allowing his tunes to be translated to tablature.
