He was predeceased by: his parents, Vernon Channing Dean and DeVada Goldie Dean (Scott); his siblings, Ronald Max Dean, Robert Lee Dean, Gilbert David Dean, Shirley Juanita Wilson and Mary Lee Nicora; his pet Jack; and his grandfather Jack (Jack Be Good).
He is survived by: his siblings, Sterl Harold Dean (Shirley) of Elkins, WV, Della Mae Johnson (Roger) of Lookout, WV and Vicki Lynn Neal (Butch) of Fayetteville, WV; his aunts, Gay Fields, Judy Dean and Janet Dean; and his pet Max.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) in memory of his beloved dog, Jack, or the American Cancer Society (ACS) in memory of John's brother, Robert Lee Dean, who died from cancer as well.
