He was predeceased by: his wife Janet Marie Wills Maphis; his parent Mary Kisner-Turner; his stepfather Gary Turner; and his grandmother Corrine K. Whittington. He is survived by: his sons, Michael Todd Maphis, II and Jesse Wayne Maphis; his grandchildren, Kaleb Maphis, Hunter Maphis, Jesse Maphis, Jr., Hannah Maphis, Kyle Maphis and Paisley Maphis; his great grandchild Hudson Maphis; his siblings, Rick Maphis (Harriet) and Lori Strite; his aunt Sharon Dirting; and his uncle William "Bubby" Whittington.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Brown Funeral Home for Michael's funeral expenses.
