He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude R. Cottrell and Elizabeth K. Cottrell (Shaffer); his former wife Sharon Cottrell; his sisters, Carol Casto and Martha Kool; and his son-in-law Rusty Smeltzer.
He is survived by: his wife Wanda Cotterll; his children, Virginia Cottrell, Kathy Cottrell Casteel (Jimmie) of Masontown, Harvey Johnson of Morgantown and Roger Johnson of Masontown; his grandchildren, Jeremy Casteel (Sarah Areheart) of Masontown, Hunter Bee of Masontown, Macy Johnson of Masontown, Samantha Sell of Morgantown and Grace Johnson of Morgantown; and his nieces, Tina Casto (George) of Garrettsville, OH, Sherry Fertik (Earl) of Garrettsville, OH, Tammy, Lori and Joretta of Big Pool, MD.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carl's memory to the Field Funeral Home, 10537 Veterans Memorial Hwy, Masontown, WV 26542, to assist the family with funeral expenses.
