He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Lorenzo Boyd, Jr. and Laura Nell Southerly Bayse; his wife Mary Whetzel; his children, Robert Basye (Lindsey), Nicole Cooper (Warren) and Ginger Basye; his stepchildren, Gregory Dove, Jr., Gabriel Dove and Echo Morris (Roy Jr.); his siblings, Gregory, John, Eric Basye, Madaline Cohran and Margaret Delawder; his grandchildren, Alyssa Watson, Addison Dutton, Dayton Dove and Gage Dove; and his great-nephew Tucker "Runt" Whetzel. He was also cherished by five grandchildren, fifteen step grandchildren, two step great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Sunday, April 27th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Grandle Funeral Home (148 E Lee St, Broadway, VA 22815). A funeral service was held on Monday, April 28th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Mathias Mennonite Church (16231 WV-259, Mathias, WV 26812).
