We announce the death of Billy Stables Sr. of Matoaka, West Virginia, who passed away on July 11, 2026, at the age of 83. He was predeceased by: his parents, Eugene Stables and Annie Wiley Stables; his wife Hilda Beasley Stables; and his sisters, Judy Barlow, Lee Stables (James Stables), Dolly Smith, Shirley Williams, Margaret Crotty and Nellie Sigmon.
He is survived by: his children, Anna Stables (Robert Dickenson) and Billy Stables, Jr.; his grandchildren, Jacob Stables (Elizabeth), Tyler Stables (Kate McNeely) and Alissa Bittinger (Jayson); his daughter Samantha Stables (Randall Jones); his great grandchildren, Ryleigh, Wyatt, Ruby, Trinidy, Annavie and Harrison; his grandson Grayson Smith; his siblings, Peggy Davis and Roger Stables; his great-niece Heather Brown; and his close friend James Selleck. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
