He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Bess and Doris O'Conner Bess; his son Bryan Bess; his grandmother Opal O'Conner; and his siblings, Ralph Bess, Nancy Regalla (Michael) and Opal Cecilia Collier (Paul).
He is survived by: his wife Debra Cavender Bess; his son Matthew Bess; his brothers, Michael Bess (Marcia) of Charleston, WV and Robert Bess of Dunbar; and his great-nephew Mikey Collier. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
