He was predeceased by : his parents, Joseph Joy and Mary Falcone Joy; and his brothers, Joseph, Robert, John and William Joy.

He is survived by : his wife Lois Merico Joy of Monongah; his children, Anna Maria Bennington (Stephen) of Barackville and Johnna Phillips (Barry) of Monongah; his grandchildren, John Bennington (Crystal), Julianne VanGilder (JC) and Tyler Phillips (Olivia); his sister-in-law Vickie Joy of Monongah; his niece Lisa; and his nephew Mike Joy. He is also survived by several other nieces and nephews.
