He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Bean and Carrie Muntzing Bean of Moorefield, WV.; his in-laws, Virginia and Woodrow Cook; his siblings, Ada Kay Cleaver, Howard and William; and his brother-in-law Jean Chagnon.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara; his children, Katherine Carney (Carl) of Fredericksburg, VA, Jennifer (John O'Neal) of Seattle, WA, Stephanie of Bridgeport and Ralph J III (Melissa Kelsey) of Rochester, NY.; his grandchildren, Alex Carney, Eli and Juniper Kelsey-Bean; his brother Oscar (Dixie); and his sister-in-law Cindy Chagnon.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday, October 24th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Bridgeport Presbyterian Church (1 John Calvin Dr, Bridgeport, WV 26330).
