He was predeceased by: his mother Mamie Hester Crites (Ayers); his granddaughter Derika Shae Crites; and his siblings, Hester Crites and Clyde Crites. He is survived by: his father Amby Harper Crites; his wife Lucy M. Crites (Thorne); his children, Dwayne "Jake" Crites (Karen) of Maysville, WV, Derek W. Crites (Jennifer Whetzel) of Maysville, WV and Kathy A. Riggleman (Jim) of Moorefield, WV; his grandchildren, Zanna Bowman (Walker), Lydia Young (Zach), Logan Riggleman (Paige), Ashley Whetzel (Hunter), Kooper Riggleman, McKenna Crites, Sadie Crites and Karli Crites; his stepgrandchildren, Kristina Trent and John Trent; his great grandchildren, Jackson See, Cora Whetzel, Kenston Whetzel and Charlotte Young; his siblings, Rada Strawderman, Brenda Champ, Wilma Mann, Barbara Hedrick, Verlon "Bub" Crites, Marvin Crites and Allen Crites; and his nephew Les Crites.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 28th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Schaeffer Funeral Home (11 N Main St, Petersburg, WV 26847). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 29th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
