He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Elisabeth Russell Carpenter and Everett Arthur Carpenter; his wife Susan Heflin Carpenter; his son Scott Russell Carpenter; his sister Elisabeth Carpenter Abbott; his brothers-in-law, Ray Abbott, Edward Heflin and Thomas Heflin; and his nieces and nephews, Elizabeth Cauvel, Erin Quinlan, Dan Abbott and Justin Abbott.
