He was predeceased by: his parents, John Counts and Helen Counts; his former wife Dr. Mona M. Counts; and his sisters, Jannie Hanna (Dave Hanna) and Judy Price (Bruce Price).
He is survived by: his wife Barbara L. Counts; his daughter Joy D. Nugent (Courtney A. Nugent); his grandson Dr. Grant E. Nugent; his niece Lori Hall (Mitch Hall); his great-nieces and great-nephews, Kelly, Kevin and Kyle; his stepdaughter-in-law Debra James; and his stepchildren, Mike James, Tobi James and Michaele James.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Amedisys Hospice of Morgantown.
