He was predeceased by: his parents, John Aaron and Marian Franklin Slonaker; and his wife Daisy Shaner. He is survived by: his children, Daniel, John (Kay) of Bowie, MD and Mary of Virginia Beach, VA.; and his grandchildren, Jes Slonaker (Laura), Lena Weiler (Joseph), Anna Donaghue (Brett) and Michael Slonaker (Ayla). He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in John's memory to the American Heart Association or the West Virginia Parks Foundation.
