He was predeceased by: his parents, George Swanger and Alberta Ammons Swanger; his brother Marvin Swanger; and his son-in-law Bob Mckinzie. He is survived by: his wife Virginia Kay Mattern Swanger; his stepchildren, Laura Mckinzie, Keith Smith (Terri) and Kelly Smith; his grandchildren, Amanda Anderson, Brianna Bracken, Christopher Smith, Heather Smith and Kelly Smith; his great grandchildren, Kinzie Anderson and Kain Anderson; and his siblings, Marlene Swanger of Richmond, Melanie Zinn (Dave), Melvin Swanger (Patsy) and Maverick Swanger (Donna Girod). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation was held on Sunday, April 19th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and on Monday, April 20th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the McCulla Funeral Home (770 Fairmont Rd, Morgantown, WV 26501). A funeral service was held on Monday, April 20th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
