She was predeceased by: her parents, James Hewitt and Clara Hewitt (Darrah); her daughter Diana; her brother Sonny Hewitt; and her grandchildren, Julie, Lea Alvarez and Billy Powell III.
She is survived by: her children, Lois Alvarez, Bonnie Powell, Bill Powell, Jr. (Sheila) and Lyle Powell; her sister Naomi Simms; her grandchildren, Michael, Jillian, Delaney and Cullen Powell; and her great grandchildren, Julia McElwee and Derrick Derrow. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
