He was predeceased by: his parents, Rufus Simpson and Vesta Simpson; his wife Etta Simpson; his children, Rufus, Paul Allen Simpson and Debra Lynn; his grandson Josh Simpson; and his son-in-law Bob Holmes.
He is survived by: his children, Emma Holmes of Mt. Olive, Andy Simpson (Judy) of Mt. Olive and Mike Simpson (Vicky) of Mt. Olive; his daughter-in-law Lucy Simpson of Elkview; and his caregivers, Bob Pritt, Renee, Jerry Whitlock and Jerry Wiseman. He is also survived by six grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
