We announce the death of Richard Dean Miller of Naoma, West Virginia, born in Beckley, West Virginia, who passed away on August 16, 2026, at the age of 59. Richard will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Richard will be remembered for the impact he had on the lives of those around him. Friends, family, and colleagues will cherish their memories and the time shared. Those who knew Richard will remember moments of kindness, warmth, and presence. Though words cannot fully capture his life, the legacy of connections and experiences remains. Richard’s absence will be deeply felt by those who valued his companionship.
He was predeceased by: his mother Jane Miller. He is survived by: his children, Lindsey Gabrielle, Caitlin Elizabeth, Ryan Samuel and Zachary Ian Miller; his wife April Jeanette Clay; and his father Marshall University.
Instead, he will be donating his body to science, specifically the Harvard Brain Tissue Resource Center, to help with the advancement for treatments and to foster a better understanding of the disease. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Huntington's Disease Society of America in his memory.
