He was predeceased by: his parents, John "Junior" F. Thompson and Helen "Trudy" Thompson (Garred); his son Eric Lee Thompson; his parents-in-law, William "Bill" R. Murray and Myrl V. Murray; and his brothers-in-law, Johnny R. Murray and George "Jake" Haskiell Jr..
He is survived by: his wife Melanie K. Thompson (Murray); his son Jason Thompson; his stepchildren, Rebecca Kunkle (Michael), Tony Teets (Crystal) and Doug Lilley; his siblings, Russell Thompson (Carol Smarslok), Raymond Thompson and Patty Jeffries (Jim); his grandchildren, Barrett Kunkle, Reagan Kunkle, Jay Thompson, Tyler Hight and Jenna Hight; and his sisters-in-law, Carol Sigley (Danny) of Hohenwald, TN, Maria Haskiell of Marquess and Debora Murray of Marquess. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
