He was predeceased by: his parents, Neva Hatfield (King) and Dutch Hatfield; his wife Lillian Sue Hatfield; his daughters, Elisabeth "Lisa" Shirl Lykins (Chris) and Jennifer Nicole Hatfield; and his brothers, Thomas Hatfield (Bookie) and Edward Hatfield (Susan).
He is survived by: his son Joe Hatfield (Kim) of Bell Buckle, TN; his brother Wetzel Hatfield (Ginger) of Dayton, Ohio.; his grandchildren, Kayla Smith, Kyle Smith (Karen), Joshua Hatfield (Sam), Cameron Hatfield (Emily), Lauren Hatfield, Maddie Hatfield and Millie Hatfield; and his close friends, Robbie Cisco and Dan Kinder. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, March 6th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Chambers Funeral Services Chapel (1025 WV-49, Matewan, WV 25678). A funeral service was held on Saturday, March 7th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
