It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Lawrence William Smith of Norton, West Virginia, who passed away on December 18, 2025, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Smith and Lorita Mae Friel; his sisters, Jenny Chilton, Juanita "Tiny" McCauley and Beatrice Mae Smith; and his grandson C. J. Scott.
He is survived by: his wife Carol Yvette Burns; his children, Thomas Smith (Becky) of Elkins and Paula Scott (Curtis) of Norton; his siblings, Lloyd Smith (Vicky) of Norton and Alice "Faye" Stanton of Buckhannon; his grandchildren, Brett Smith (Chelsea) of Weston, Logan Smith (April) of Morgantown, Jesse Sampson of Elkins, Damien Sampson of Elkins, Brianna Feaster of Elkins and Kasey Feaster of Elkins; his great grandchildren, Barrett Smith of Weston and Gage Smith of Morgantown; and his pet Maggie. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
