He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe Elmer Dodson, Sr. and Nola May Caudill Dodson; his wife Patricia Dodson; and his siblings, Joe Elmer Dodson, Jr., Freda Dodson Lyons and Frances Dodson Riner.

He is survived by: his children, Kiley Price (Mike), Becky Ferrell (Shan), Mary McCoy (Tim), Laura Shore (Dean), Todd Dodson (Justen), Craig Ortiz (Donna), Ray Ortiz (Cheryl), Herb Meador III and Marty Dodson (Debbie). He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
