We are sad to announce that on May 13, 2026, at the age of 86, Joe Messer of Parsons, West Virginia passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Messer and Carmen Daniels Messer; and his siblings, Charles Thornhill, Sr., Jack Messer and Janet Westrope.
He is survived by: his children, Joe E. Messer, Jr. (Sonya) of Montrose and Tina Gale Primavero of Parsons, WV; his siblings, Henry S. "June" Messer (Nancy) of Gilman, Carol Ann Fansler of Elkins and Karen June Arbogast of Gilman; his grandchildren, Crystal Shoemaker, Jimmy, Laura Jones, Tessi Arbogast, Corey, John Henry Messer, Samantha, Chelsi Demastes, Thomas, Hailee Primavero, Jeb Primavero and Tiffany; his great grandchildren, Anna, Nina, Michael, Briar, Thorn, Pepper, Brady, Bria, Archer, Hudson, Weston, Karter and Kade; his great-nephew Matthew Thornhill; his close friend Clyde Wilson; Abby.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 18th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Tomblyn Funeral Home (45 Randolph Ave, Elkins, WV 26241). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 19th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
The family request contributions be made to the West Virginia Caring Hospice Center, 169 Diamond St., Elkins, WV 26241 in memory of Joe.
