He was predeceased by: his parents, Dorothy Helen Grogg Powell and Gerald Moore; his foster parents, Roy Sharp, Jo and Andy Sharp; and his siblings, Roger, Ralph, Kenneth, Ellis Moore and Wanema "Jerry" Gnegy.
He is survived by: his wife Thelma Jean Moore; his daughters, Kimberly Jo (Ronnie Bodkins) of Valley Head and Angela Kay (Dale Shockey) of Mabie; his grandchildren, Timothy Sherwood Daniels (Tausha) of Morgantown, Derrick Allen Bodkins (Liz Blackburn) of Dailey and Kelsey (Josh Longbon) of Mabie; his great grandchildren, Ellie Bodkins, Khallie Bodkins, Jace Blackburn, Liam Connelly, Beckett and Ryker Longbon; and his siblings, Leonard Moore of Valley Head, Luther Ratliff of Mill Creek, Rick Sharp, Phyllis Phares of Dailey and Gerald Lee Moore.
Virgil served as a trustee of the Mingo Cemetery for many years, to honor his wishes, the family asks that donations be made to the Mingo Cemetery in lieu of flowers at the following address: 28558 Seneca Trail, Valley Head, WV 26294.
