He was predeceased by: his mother Thelma Chapman; his wife Wendy VanMeter (Whetzel); and his son Donnie "Boonie" Whetzel. He is survived by: his close friend Hellen "Sissy" Bean; his daughters, Barbara Shook of Cumberland, MD and Teresa Myers (Tim) of Moorefield, WV; his grandchildren, Whisper Starkey (John), Carmen Taylor (Daniel), Floyd Shook and Timothy "Tub" Myers; his great grandchild Liam Taylor; and his sister Karen Keplinger (Paul) of Arthur, WV. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 6th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM at the Cornerstone Family Fellowship (1516 Lunice Creek Hwy, Petersburg, WV 26847). A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 6th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
